Land Surveyor Technician / Crew Chief / Instrument Person

Position Overview

Seeking a motivated Field Technician / Crew Chief with combined office opportunities to support a wide range of construction and land surveying projects. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on fieldwork, modern survey technology, and working on active construction sites.

Primary Responsibilities

• Perform field surveying for:

  • Boundary, topographic, and ALTA surveys

  • Construction layout (concrete, utilities, anchor bolts, sleeves, control)

• Operate survey equipment including:

  • Robotic total stations

  • GNSS/GPS receivers (RTK, static, rapid static)

  • Digital levels

  • Drones (LiDAR & Imagery)
  • Terrestrial Laser Scanner

• Establish, verify, and maintain horizontal and vertical control

• Collect accurate field data and maintain clear, professional field notes

• Coordinate with project managers, contractors, and other trades on site

• Follow safety procedures and company standards at all times

Required Qualifications

• 1+ years of field surveying experience (construction layout experience preferred) or a college degree in Surveying

• Working knowledge of survey methods and terminology

• Experience with GNSS and robotic total stations

• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy

• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Preferred Qualifications

• Crew Chief experience

• Familiarity with Topcon, Carlson, or Leica equipment

• Construction layout experience on commercial or infrastructure projects

• Ability to read construction plans and control drawings

• Survey degree or coursework (a plus, not required)
